What to expect
The ROSDC is a competition that offers high school students the opportunity to experience a simulated working environment within the aerospace industry.
During the competition, the participants are presented with the hypothetical situation of a solar system with a much more evolved aerospace industry, where significant infrastructure has already been built and life outside of Earth is not uncommon.
THE STORY:
An organization named The Foundation Society has made most of the breakthroughs in the space domain and wishes to further expand through the creation of more space settlements.
Therefore, The Foundation Society has contracted four companies with the necessary experience and resources, giving them each the task of creating, designing, and presenting a plan for the settlement.
As a participant, you will be allocated to one of the four companies, where you will design, construct, and detail a presentation through which you will showcase your ideas and prove your plan’s efficacy.
ON-SITE:
ROSDC is a one-day, free-to-enter competition open to high school students all across the country.
It will take place during the weekend, starting at 7.30 and ending at around 20.00. You will be given eight hours during which your team should create and develop your presentation.
At the beginning of the day, all participants will gather for the opening presentation given by our past ISSDC winners that will introduce you to the challenge, give you valuable advice and all in all welcome you into the competition.
Afterward, you will be led to your company workspace, where the leadership elections will take place.
The competition will start at 9.00 and end at 18.00, with a one-hour lunch break at 13.00. After all presentations are sent, the teams will be asked to present their projects in front of the judges and other participants.
The judges will then choose and announce the winning project, which will be followed by the award ceremony. The participants that are chosen to compete in the next phase will be announced online later the next week.
