What is the ROSDC?
The Romanian Space Design Competition is an interdisciplinary challenge that immerses 9th to 12th-grade students in the practical experience of aerospace industry projects. This competition brings together space enthusiasts from various schools to form teams tasked with designing innovative space settlements. Participants engage in every aspect of the design process, from planning and detailing to presenting their ideas before judges and other teams, simulating the dynamic and demanding environment of the aerospace sector.

Frequently Asked Questions
There are no obligatory qualifications to compete in the ROSDC, although a passion for the sciences is encouraged.
In each local phase of the competition, the winning team will be chosen based on it’s ideas and it’s presentation. Afterwards, the most involved members will be given the opportunity to compete in the national phase of the competition (having a similar structure with the previous phase). Through a similar selection process, members from the winning team will be selected to participate in the EUSDC (European Space Design Competition), along with a smaller number of participants selected from the other teams.
During the competition, you will be given a hypothetical situation as part of a company that must create a plan for a space settlement. You have to think of all the necessities humans need in that particular environment as well as to come up with inovative ideas depending on the (specified) purpose of the settlement. The details will be given to you at the start of the competition.
There are four phases of the competition. It starts with the local phase, in five different cities across Romania, the national phase, then the EUSDC in which several countries from Europe participate, and finally the ISSDC – international phase taking place in the USA.
